Elderflower’s summertime magic: Ingredient spotlight

Our first product, un\wine, is a botanical beverage with 20mg of organic hemp for great nights and even better mornings. Meant to be poured into a glass and savored, it’s perfect for a girl’s night out or dinner at home, just like wine. Want to know what makes it so calming and delicious? We’re gearing up for launch by taking a deep dive into our carefully selected ingredients lovingly chosen by yours truly, the dose divas.

Next up, elderflower. This pretty white flower got a royal amount of attention when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they had ordered an elderflower lemon cake for their wedding in May, 2018. As much as we love the prince and princess (and fellow Northwestern grad!), we had our own reasons for adding the delicate flower to the pink one.

Elderflower blooms starting in the early summer, its sweet scent signifying the beginning of better times. During these warm months we love elderflower for its floral taste, which is often compared to honey, and isn’t so strong as to taste like perfume. It’s common to find it in the form of elderflower syrup, which makes it a great addition to cocktails like gin and tonics. It can also be used like rosewater in baking, where a little bit goes a long way.

This fragrant flower also has benefits as seen in traditional medicine, for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. So, if a cold or a flu is getting you down, elderflower can help put you back on the path to feeling 100 percent again.
